Greetings in the lovely and matchless name of Jesus Christ.
On Sunday we were having a discussion regarding the two words “commotion” and “devotion” and how so often commotion has crept into out daily lives and even our church services and crowded out true devotion and intimacy with Jesus. Commotion and distractions seem to be all around us crowding out the quiet and stillness. Paul addresses this issue in 2 Corinthians 11:3 “But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.”
Elijah experienced this as he stood on the mountain in 1 Kings 19:11-12 and these two verses are our MMV for this week. Here are the verses:
God’s Revelation to Elijah
11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
As you READ IT – WRITE IT – SAY IT – SING IT – PRAY IT ask the Holy Spirit for your own revelation like He gave to Elijah about His still small voice and don’t let the “commotion” of life drown it out. Ask the Holy Spirit to awaken your passion and devotion to Jesus Christ in a new and fresh way.
Much love and blessings,
Michael & Kathy
